Pima Leadership Institute
Pima Leadership Institute is the leadership development program at Pima Community College modeled from the curriculum and structure of the Arizona Blue Chip Program. Pima Leadership Institute provides opportunities for enhancement in the areas of diversity, service, integrity and excellence and allows students in general interest, direct-work and transfer programs to gain a leadership experience that meets their individual needs as well as ensures their eligibility for participation in Phase II of the Arizona Blue Chip Program.
Pima Leadership Institute Phase I Equivalent
Workshop/Course Option
□ Attend the following workshops:
• Time Management
• Stress Management
• Dealing with Change
• Learning Styles
• Goal Setting
• Effective Communication
AND
□ Take STU/MGT 230 (receive a C or better)
Course Only Option
□ Take STU 100 or STU 150 (receive a C or better)
AND
□ Take STU/MGT 230 (receive a C or better)
Pima Leadership Institute Phase II Equivalent
Pima Community College Students can complete the second level of the Pima Leadership Institute through one of two options:
1. Participate in Phase II of the Arizona Blue Chip Program at the University of Arizona and enroll in STU 240 A and C, a 2-credit thematic leadership course on Arts, Eco, Global, Service, or Social Entrepreneurship taken at the University of Arizona but enrolled in at Pima Community College.
2. Participate on the Planning Committee of the National Collegiate Leadership Conference at the University of Arizona and enroll in STU 240 A and C, a 2-credit event planning course taken at the University of Arizona but enrolled in at Pima Community College.
How the Partnership Works
The partnership provides opportunities for Pima Community College students to participate in University of Arizona leadership programs with an option to transfer into the Arizona Blue Chip Program in Phase II or Phase III upon academic transfer to the University of Arizona.
*The $300 fee for Blue Chip is waived for students participating in Phase II of Blue Chip while attending PCC.
**Admission to Blue Chip Phase II begins only before the Fall semester each year. Students may not begin Blue Chip after the first day of classes Fall semester. If they miss this start time, they may not participate until the following Fall semester.
Benefits of the Partnership
This partnership allows Pima Community College students to have the opportunity to participate in University of Arizona leadership programs (Blue Chip or NCLC) and to interact with University of Arizona students and create a smooth transition for transfer to the University of Arizona. In turn, University of Arizona students can learn from the experiences of Pima Community College students.
